With its 3-D film Sea Monsters ready for release, National Geographic had a great product to offer merchandisers nationwide. They asked Hughes to design and direct the creation of original Sea Monsters art, which was featured on trade show booth towers and posters.

National Geographic had a great, big screen movie concept, Mysteries of China. All they needed was financial backing. For their pitch to a major corporation, Hughes designed key art and rolled it out into a poster, a scroll-inspired invitation to the movie’s premier, a magazine ad, web banner and materials for teachers to use with students after viewing the film.
